Q: If I can hear some sound through my ears, does that mean it isn’t transmitting ultrasonically

A: The Neurophone uses the ultrasonic signal to stimulate a small organ in the inner ear called saccule at the same special frequency the brain uses to decode and encode data. Q: If I can hear some sound through my ears, does that mean it isn’t transmitting ultrasonically? A: If you connect the Neurophone to a spectrum analyzer or an oscilloscope you will find it does transmit ultrasonic sound at 40 kHz, beyond what our ears can hear, but in the range that our brains can still perceive. Does this mean that the sounds with frequencies outside of our spectrum don’t do anything to our inner ear because it doesn’t even process them?. There’s a ted talk by an inventor of some hypersonic speakers. Vibrations transmitted through an elastic solid or a liquid or gas, with frequencies in the approximate range of 20 to 20,000 hertz, capable of. Why can not human being hear sounds more than 20 kilohertz? The real reason for a reduced high frequency response at high frequencies is a decrease in sound transmission through various tissues and the organ of Corti in the inner ear which is less responsive to higher frequencies. Please provide some support for your changes. There is a historical place for the term ultrasound; however, ultrasound is a term of physics meaning frequencies above human hearing; you obviously know this.

This means that you would get a push, and then immediately a pull. Can ultrasonic sound waves push water if the speakers are fitted to the sides of windshield of a car? David Blackmer’s argument for high-definition audio. What got me started in my quest to understand the capabilities of human hearing beyond 20kHz was an incident in the late eighties. Isn’t that impossible, you say? Some people argue that plastic cones tend to not sound as snappy or lively as stiff cone counterparts. If, on the other hand, you expect to cross over an 8 inch speaker with a 6 inch cone to a 1 inch dome tweeter at 2000 Hz (typical), then it is unlikely you will ever find anything affordable to do the job better than paper. While it will mean the diaphragm ceases to behave in a pistonic (acts as a uniform whole) fashion at a lower frequency, the compliance (accompanied by damping or loss) within the material tends to localize the disturbance of the standing wave to a much smaller area of the cone. I just got the Emotiva running so i’m going to listen for the issues that my tinnitus-ridden ears originally picked up.

The files I analyzed were captured at 384 kHz, which means they should be able to unambiguously represent frequencies up to 192 kHz. My other guess was that it may be a feature of the larynx or some other biological structure within the bat that is resonating. Image: A pure tone audiogram of both ears indicating no hearing loss. Also, the sound comes with some pecularities that warrant a deeper analysis. My tinnitus happens to be a near-sinusoidal tone at 65 Hz; if this got somehow multiplied with part of the actual sound somewhere in the auditory pathway, it could explain the distortion. Most of the sounds we hear come through the Earth’s atmosphere, which is dense enough (about 1 kg of air per cubic meter) to allow sound to propagate. If we extrapolate the Universe back until it was as least as dense as Mars’ atmosphere, this means that for about the first day after the big bang, the Universe is dense enough that sound audible to humans can travel through it. The very early Universe has density fluctuations at all scales, meaning that it will produce sound waves at all frequencies. The human ear is most sensitive to lower frequency sounds, so that’s what you’d preferentially hear: the bass notes. Causality isn’t being violated. Born a child prodigy in electronics, Patrick Flanagan could read before he could talk. The saccule has since been shown to be an ultrasonic hearing organ that detects ultrasonic sound only if the sound is transmitted through the tissues and bones of the body. How can a woofer possibly be fast, since the crossover limits the pulse risetime to a tenth of what any tweeter can do? This leads to what diplomats discreetly call a full and frank exchange of views, in other words, a shouting match. In short, it has moderate cone (or dome) flex, but it isn’t the all-or-nothing gross breakup that people see in the acoustic holography pictures. These recorders will capture many hours of CD-quality audio with at least 70dB of dynamic range, not only to allow the contents transmission to be reviewed, but to allow later analysis of things like signal/noise ratio, the amount of scintillation, and audio quality. This allows the user to not only peak the receiver, but its output can be sent to the transmitting end via radio, telephone or even the optical link itself to permit peaking at that end as well. If diode-dropping is done, make certain that C411 is still connected across U401’s power supply pins to assure stable operation.
