If your complaints are more irregular clicking noise in the ear, go here. It’s because there is a PRESSURE difference between the air pressure in the middle ear and the pressure outside across the eardrum. If a patient has allergies or a sinus infection, these need to be addressed as well. For almost a year now, I have had a strange feeling and noise in my left ear. I went to the ENT and because he could hear it as well he ordered an MRI, MRA with contrast and an ultrasound of my neck. I went to the ENT and he said it was probably just my eaustachian tube that was making the crumpling paper noise. I know it is not because the sound is in a totally different place than that of when I pop my ears. They say that can give you tinnitus but mine is more of a squishy feeling when I touch it.
I share my remedies with you because I’ve had this very same problem for the past year and a half. I’m sick and tired of it and have another appointment with the ENT tomorrow. For years I had the crackling sound in my left ear and it would not go away until I went to my PC doctor for something else and as he was leaving the room I mentioned it, and he kept walking as he said yes, you have to keep something like that wet. Sometimes I can yawn and my ear will pop, I can wake up and I won’t hear any crunching/crackling sounds until I start to talk and go about my day. Also I am aware of Tinnitus, I know I have this because long before I had any of these problems. Persistent fluid over three months may require you to see an ENT. I cannot blow it out of my nose because there is nothing in my nose to blow out. I was to see my ENT dr about 3 months ago and he checked my ear and said there was no fluid and to see my dentist which i did and he did not feel it was anything to do with my teeth/jaw. I have what sounds like water on my eardrum and it has went on for a month now and drives me crazy.
By this time it had eased off and my hearing had returned to normal. It does this because your Eustachian tube is obstructed either by an allergy, an infection, a virus or sometimes a change in shape or function. I then went to an ENT who said there was no fluid in the middle ear. The valsalva sometimes works in unclogging the ear but other times, it just makes a squishy sound and the ear still isn’t unclogged. Had to go work tonight, taking down metal chairs and stuff from a play. Since then,or i think it was since then, i have noticed a squishy noise in the same ear whenever i walk, run, drive my car or even tap on my head. The squealing i now have i my hear is concerning me more. if it’s tinnitus will i have it for life or will it go when this other problem is sorted? i’ve been to the doctor who says it’s something to do with my eustacian tube but when i explained that i had no pain with it it seemed to confuse him. He also seems relunctant to refer me to the ent. has anyone else had this and can anyone offer some advice. It’s starting to drive me mad and i’m alienating myself from my family because i’m so crumpy.

Hi – ive had the pulsing sound in my ear for years. I went to see an ENT specialist in Harley Street, London, who refered me to a special maxiofacial dentist/jaw re aligner. If you press your finger to below your ear lobe it sometimes stops..thats because it has nothing to do with your arteries as such thats just the sound reverberating. I am waiting for an appt with the ENT NHS UK Doctor. If I wake up with low noise, I have low noise in my ears throughout the day no matter what I do. When I spoke I could hear static and noise, and couldn’t hear outside things normally. I went back to the ENT doctor who checked my ears with a type of instrument and had me close one nostril while I took a breath. I myslelf am very light (70kilos, 6ft 1) and I probably lost weight in the few months before my problems started (I went on a vegetarian diet from October 08, and my problems started in mid January, following which I went back on meat because I wanted to make sure I had all the nutrients and proteins to help me get better – still haven’t gained any weight though). I’ve had something similar in my left ear for years now, I take a nasal spray that helps to open up the eustachian tubes to allow the shit to clear out. I don’t know how much it affects my hearing because I’ve never experienced 100 hearing. Anyways I’m not a specialist so, if you feel like going to an ENT, go for it!

(Mind you, I had many tears in the back of my neck and slightly down my spine). After 3 days of getting worse I went back to my doctor by this time I could barely walk because the pain was so severe the doctor sent me over for a cat scan which they picked up immediatley as some kind of fluid on my brain. Also, after five days of the headache, I began to have a feeling of congestion in my ears accompanied by a soft rushing sound, followed by mild hearing loss. After seeing an ENT he had MRI done and found menegeal enhancement. It’s that weird squishy swimming pool feeling i get and the fact that my ear drum finally let the fluid out on its own but keeps coming back. He didn’t order (After sleuthing around the internet i found out about some of these tests) EcochG or ABR or MRI or CT Scan to determine if there was ear fluid, because my eardrums are screwed from surgery with scarring. I went to a ENT about 3 years ago and he said there’s no problem in my ear. Although my mother tells me that I had infant eczema I don’t recall experiencing it or any other eczema and getting it in the ear at my age is not something that I had ever heard of before. My ear gets plugged because the wax doesn’t find a natural way to drain from the ear. I went back to the ENT and spoke to the head of the practice who finally diagnosed the problem as eczema in the ear. Admittedly, GPs have helped clear it out in the past, and prescribed antibiotics that do work, ultimately, and one gave me squishy ear plugs and told me to wear them when showering, so I guess ultimately the collected information adds up to what you’re saying. Sir when you hear that squishy sound, you are describing what happens to my Son when he gets fluid behind his eardrum.
I can feel mine in my neck and one just in front of my ear, I have been able to feel them for many many years. So small i know, but still it set me in panic off and on for 7 years until I finally went to a ENT doc and he told me it was nothing, and did bloodwork and CT to assure me. Hey, I searched for neck lumps because I felt one in my neck the other day and it’s starting to worry me. Does anyone else get these squishy or metalic sounds on their eardrum? It’s as if something is rubbing against my eardrum, i know this is not the case because my doc says there isn’t much earwax there. Every time i take a step i get this noise in my ear, when i’m still it’s just a hissing noise. is this still t or have i got something else as well?. Maybe blood problem maybe soemthing different. you should go to ent as soon as possible and do some tests about t. I also went to a ent and he did a cat scan of my sinuses and showed flood in my sinuses. I started having this swooshing heartbeat sound in my right ear last year after the worst cold I have ever had in my life. One month in bed. It seems to be worse at night, (I think because it is quiet), and speeds up and slows down when I move around. This has gone on for well over a year after I had been taking Zolpidem (Ambien) for a couple of months. The first time I had my ear plugged, I went to the doctor and they used a high pressure device to remove the wax. My only challenge was getting a feel for directing the hydrogen peroxide to squirt in the right place without scoring a direct hit (which was uncomfortable) and maybe I should have paid closer attention to the need to warm the solution because I was a bit dizzy, but those mild inconveniences paled in comparison to the relief I felt upon getting my hearing back and relieving the pressure in my head, and within 10 minutes any dizziness went away. I have awful insurance, so its become quite expensive to go to the ENT every few months for a cleaning. I like to gently dry off the insides of my ears, because I can’t stand the sensation of wet cold ear canals. A couple times in my life, I’ve had problems where the wax got dislodged and started really affecting my hearing. Olive oil is generally the recommendation to both smother the bug so it will stop making all that noise and also to soften the wax so the bug can be retrieved or flushed out. Went to an ENT Tuesday, and he said my ear canal was awful. December: I noticed a stony hard, 1 cm lymph node in my right neck which would move when pushed. I went to an ENT who had previously removed my tonsils, and he said its nothing to worry about at all and to only come back if it got bigger. I go to another doctor who says its a viral infection and says i have an inner ear infection as well. No one has ever accused me of being normal, my nodes were up, squishy and gone in 2 months then another would rise and go. U/sound, thyroid scan, FNB.
